Well, not exactly. Even the most hopeless romantic better have some deep pockets if he plans to pull of an amazing marriage proposal like this. Take a look at “the greatest marriage proposal ever!” and see whether you think it was worth it…we do!
Although the only expense my fiance incurred was the cost of the engagement ring and the nerve it took to ask me (you could tell he was a little nervous–that was so cute!), many husbands-to-be take a much different route when it comes to making the moment as special as possible. We’ve all heard about the secret plans of suitors willing to endure months of research, planning, and engaging every around them in this daring proposition. We’ve even written about a few. And with that, we ask the question, “how much does it cost?”
The Big Payout
So just in case you’re wondering (I know I was) what it would take to pull off a unique marriage movie proposal like this, here goes…
Hire a professional wedding photographer/videographer
Stage the video (setting up the shots and the overall feel of the video)
Shoot and editing of the video (editing is essential)
Hire extras, if needed, to be in the theater when she arrives
Rent the theater
Set up a hidden camera in the theater to film her reaction
Buy ad space (like many local businesses do) to run the trailer in the movie previews
And, of course, the RING!
Based on information gathered from the internet and various sources, if you didn’t get any freebies and had to pay top dollar for everything, you’d be looking at about $1500 – $3000 (not including the ring, of course) to make it happen. But chances are, if movies are your thing, you’re probably already into film-making and editing so you could do it for little to nothing, except for renting the theater. So, it’s probably a good idea to befriend the movie theater manager so he or she can slip the trailer in among the previews and not charge for ad space (especially since you’re not selling anything.)
But the good thing is that people love participating in romantic stuff like this, so they’ll be willing to do things for free or little cost just because.? Love is contagious like that!
The Big Payback
Here comes the “priceless” part. The fact of the matter is that no matter what you spend or how much time you invest, the reward is in the response. The all important “yes” makes it worth every penny.
If Matt put that much thought into the proposal, I can’t wait to see what they’ll plan for the wedding. I’m sure it will be filled with lots of surprises, some thoughtful touches, unique wedding favors and maybe even a movie theme to celebrate where it all began.
