Rough winter winds can wreak havoc on your lips. A little makeup prep can keep your pucker pretty for your wedding day. Try these tricks to keep your mouth kissable.

Prep

To prep your mouth for makeup, it’s important to de-flake dry skin. Mix a bit of olive oil and sugar in a bowl and apply to your mouth with your finger. Rub the mixture in gently in small circles. Dampen an old toothbrush with water and gently scrub off.

Hydrate

Seal in moisture overnight with a restorative lip balm. This one is formulated with vitamin E and honey to protect lips from cold, dry air. It’s light enough to wear under lipstick to keep lips smooth.

Line

To keep color on your lips (and not all over your groom or champagne glass), line lips with a creamy nude pencil. To create the illusion of fuller lips, line slightly beyond your cupid’s bow (the dip on the top on your mouth) with the pencil and fill in.

Fill

On your wedding day, pick a long-wearing lipstick in either a gel or cream formula to keep cracked lips from happening. Apply with a lip brush for more even and precise coverage.
