More than any other season, fall weddings have that magical and romantic connection to nature. Sure, you could have a classic wedding with crisp white linens and vases of tea roses, but where’s the fun in that? For your autumn wedding, use the reddening leaves as your inspiration for great decor.

Not sure how to incorporate fall leaves into your wedding? We’ve made the process easy so you can have a natural autumn affair.

1. Use Real Leaves Instead of Flower Petals

Flower girls typically sprinkle rose petals along the aisle just before you make your big entrance. Instead of the flower petals, give her a basket filled with fall leaves instead. You could even give her the task of finding them in her yard in the days leading up to the wedding. This is an especially good idea if you’re having an outdoor wedding.

2. Fill Your Bouquet with Fall Leaves

Another perfect spot to incorporate leaves is in your bouquet. You could sprinkle them in with your favorite flowers like in the picture below. If you’re feeling particularly “autumn” you could have the entire bouquet full of only a variety of beautiful, colorful leaves.

3. Line Reception Tables with Fake Leaves

Although you can easily use real fall leaves in most of your decorations, it’s better to go with fake ones for your reception tables where meals will be served. You can pick up bags of fake leaves at craft stores and strew them in the middle of each table. You could get personalized leaves to make them specific to your wedding.

Don’t forget about the spaces along walls or above tables. You could spray gold paint on fall leaves and string them from the ceiling or from tree limbs if you’re having the wedding outside.

5. Choose Favors with a Fall Leaf Motif

Wedding favors can feature that rustic autumn feel as well. Choose favors that have a fall leaf motif, like these bottle stoppers, party straws and bottle openers. Leaving one at each place setting will be a nice surprise for guests as they arrive at the reception.

6. Exit Your Wedding in Style

At the end of the night, it’s time for an epic send-off. Rather than throwing rice or bird seed, leave buckets of fall leaves at the doors to the reception. Guests can grab them by the handful to shower you as you head out the door. Bonus: This makes for some amazing wedding photos!
