It seems strange that after writing about weddings for the past three years that NOW I finally get to actually plan one! Yep…I’m getting married! Wow! I still can hardly believe it. Everyone around here is just giddy with the news, and I must say that I approach this new level in my life with mixed emotions–it’s still a little surreal, but there’s a perpetual smile on my face with a dash of butterflies having to pull it all together. Being a first-time bride and older than most, there’s a bit of relief as well.
Didn’t have a clue
Although we had talked about it, it had been some time ago, and I definitely didn’t think it would happen this past weekend. We’re were just doing regular stuff…nothing spectacular to tip me off. But then, before I knew it, there I was like a deer caught in headlights when he presented the ring and popped the question. I was so busy screaming OMG, OMG, OMG that I failed to answer. Then after about five minutes of hugs and kisses, he said “So are you going to answer?” Of course, I said, “yes!”
You’d think that I’d be prepared
Everyone keeps asking me about wedding details because I’m a natural planner and always have things thought out, but this time I have none–just a few random thoughts but nothing concrete. You’d think I would have it all figured out since writing about wedding, trends, fashions and favors is what I do for a living and all. But, alas, I don’t even know what colors I would like. Thankfully, I’ve got plenty of articles, blogs and resources (written by me and my colleague) that will help me get it in gear in no time. One thing’s for sure, I already know where I’ll be getting my wedding favors!
