If you were asked what the most romantic day of the year was, you’d probably say Valentine’s Day. February 14th is the annual day of love where couples show their affection and romantic attachment in fun and exciting ways. It’s also a popular date for a romantic and memorable wedding.

When planning your own Valentine’s Day wedding, you have some extra steps to do. Since this is a holiday, you’ll have time constraints and guest issues to contend with. Follow these tips for a wedding to remember.

  1. Send out save-the-dates. Save the Date cards aren’t a necessity for most weddings when only an invitation will suffice. But, when you’re having your wedding on a holiday, it’s best to let people know well in advance. Send your Valentine’s Day save-the-dates about six months in beforehand–around August of the year before.
  2. Order your cake early. Valentine’s Day is a very busy day for bakeries. Choose your baker and cake design no later than three months before the big day, though even earlier is better.
  3. Respect the couples in attendance. By coming to your wedding, the couples you’ve invited are forgoing their own holiday festivities. Make up for it with couple-friendly events at the reception. A couple’s photo booth, special couples dances and desserts-for-two will help set the mood.
  4. Take advantage of the holiday. Why choose valentine’s day if you’re going with a blue or green color scheme? Embrace the holiday with red and pink. Even better, have hearts as a theme for your decorations, invitations and cake. It’s time to go all-out!

Now this is going to be one romantic wedding!
